STU tiles debuted at the British Matchplay Scrabble Championship 2004 and received an enthusiastic response from the 180+ players in attendance.

Designed to fit the Mattel deluxe boards and SamBoards, SamTiles Universal are 19 x 19 mm.

STU tiles are square instead of rectangular and are designed to fit the British deluxe boards (though they will also fit into the American deluxe boards a bit more loosely).

STU tiles weigh 25% more than the similar tiles. Their length and width are the same dimension as the width of current tiles. These new tiles are expected to last longer.

The pictures show that these new tiles are UNIVERSAL in nature! To illustrate that point, the tiles are pictured in grids of:
